About Marc Engram, LICSW
Marc values experiential learning first and foremost in his professional life. He credits his 24-year relationship with his wife as the ‘real’ training ground that informs his work in helping people create successful relationships in their life. Having the experience of co-creating a happy and fulfilling personal relationship not only gives him the necessary understanding and perspective to help others but by 'walking the walk' he builds confidence and integrity in his work. He is committed to helping people realize what he knows first-hand to be possible in close personal relationships.
He received his Masters in Social Work in 1992 at Boston University with a concentration in family therapy. He went on to learn specialized couples and family therapy skills by completing Boston University’s Family Therapy Post-Graduate Certificate. He is Certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy, an empirically validated method of helping couples. He has also studied and trained with a variety of master practitioners in the areas of expressive therapies, Gestalt, psychodrama, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mind-body techniques. He has a special interest in helping people to connect spirituality to their everyday life and is a long-term practitioner of mindfulness meditation.
He has served as a therapist and supervisor in a variety of settings including family and children's services, mental health and addiction treatment centers. He founded The Relationship Counseling Center in Northampton Massachusetts to provide a center dedicated to offering a range of services to help people with their most important relationships. Marc has given presentations at UMass Amherst, Mothers and More, The Addiction Treatment Center of New England, Pioneer Valley Employee Assistance Program, and the National Association of Social Workers.
He lives in western Massachusetts and is the father of two boys.
